Genital herpes can spread more easily then foster herpes. The virus can enter your body from contact with an infected person by breaking in the skin or through the skin of mouth, penis or vagina, urinary tract opening, cervix or anus. It spreads easily when sores and blisters are seen on the infected person. Genital herpes can be transmitted from one person to another by having sex, with included oral sex also. It can also spread from one part of body to another, such as from genitals to fingers, then to eyes etc. Herpes can also be spread from a mother to the baby while giving birth or in other words we can say that it can be inherited from older generations.

Herpes has different stages - herpes infection goes through different stages:

  • Latent stage: - in the latent stage blisters and sores get over and virus starts travelling from the skin to the nerves located near the spine.
  • Shedding stage: - in this stage virus starts multiplying in the nerves. Then it gets into body fluids like saliva and vaginal fluids.
Recurrence of herpes:

In many cases of recurrence, sores and blisters can happen even after the herpes attack has gone, but the symptoms are usually not that bad as during the first time attack.
