One of the skin diseases that can spread through physical contact is Herpes. When cluster of blisters start to appear on the skin on any part of the body, it can be a symptom of herpes. There are times when people may not get any visible symptoms of this disease at all. This is actually a virus that affects the skin and when two people come in contact with each other, this virus gets transferred from one to the other.

There are many types of viruses that can cause this disease and all of them have different characters to show. The symptoms when affected by these vary from one to the other.

Herpes simplex virus 1 is said to be the main cause for cold and herpes simplex virus 2 is said to lead to genital herpes. It has been found as per the studies of the past years that as many as about 60 percent of the people do not get any symptoms for herpes virus infection.

Here are few facts about the herpes symptoms, when one does not have much knowledge about this and the person is experiencing it for the first time.

• The first symptom will show up its result in about 2 days or it may take up to 20 days after it has infected the respective person.
• Only the symptoms itself can continue to bother the infected person for a period of almost two weeks.
• Sometimes the symptoms may be so mild that they go unnoticed.
• When one gets attacked for the first time, it may take longer in some people and it may be not very severe in the others infected. This is especially experienced in those who have some immunity to the herpes virus as they may have had facial herpes such as cold sores or others.
• In some of the people the sores may be visible.
• The symptoms may last for about 10 days or may extend for a period of 21 days.

When the first time the person gets affected with this virus, the symptoms are severe as the body has not developed immunity against that virus. The antibodies have not developed for them to protect the person.

As soon as the herpes virus enters into the body, it starts to multiply and reproduces in huge number. So, as a result, the skin becomes red and sensitive. On the genital areas, some blisters or bumps may appear. These blisters heal when the new skin tissue regenerates.

When as person gets infected with the herpes virus then there is painful feeling in that respective part of the body. The skin becomes itchy and there is feeling as if it is burning or tingling.

The other symptoms of the herpes virus attack are listed as under:

• There may be swelling in the lymphatic glands.
• Around the area that has been infected, there may be inflamed blisters, giving a painful feeling.
• The person may get headache every now and then.
• There may be muscular pain.
• There may be some discharge from the vagina or the penis.
• There may be feeling of burning sensation while urinating, if there is infection in the urethra.
• Some people may also get fever.
• The genitals may have a burning feeling.
• There may be pain in the lower back.
• In the beginning, some small bumps of red color appear in the genital areas and then they develop into blisters which results in the formation of blisters. These blisters are painful and later they form a scab and then within a few days heal.

The blisters may reoccur but, this do not last for long time and are also not severe as the first time. With the passage of time the frequency of such occurrence reduces. After the symptoms vanish and everything is healed up, still some people may get a feeling of pain or burn for a few days.
